For thin legs, or those with deficient inner volume, (bowlegged appearance),
or as a result of accident or disease, gel implants, specifically shaped, are an
elegant solution to achieve a shapely, well turned calf. The procedure is done
under regional, (epidural), anesthesia. An incision is made in a natural fold on
the back of the knee and a pocket is developed next to the muscle in the
desired area. Implants of the proper size and shape are introduced and the legs
are bandaged.
The postoperative instructions include the use of high heels exclusively for 3
weeks to help the calf muscles to relax and permit an uneventful recuperation.
The patient can return home the same day.
