Breast Augmentation
When breast size is less than desired, or there is a notable asymmetry between the breasts, the placement of implants is the preferred solution. The implants used are filled with silastic gel or saline solution. The implants are available in a range of sizes, shapes and textures. The choice of implants is a very individualized decision made between the patient and the surgeon.
Since the cost of the implants is a very large part of the total price of this
surgery, it is important to know that there are lower quality implants on
the market that permit lower quotes. We only use the best quality
implants for our patients. The procedure is done under local anesthesia
with sedation. Small incisions are made in the fold under the breast, the
edge of the areola or in the underarm, (in special circumstances incisions on
the breast can be avoided.) Pockets are developed under the breast, the
fascia or the pectoral muscle and the implants are inserted. The patient is
free to go home after a few hours of observation with orders not to raise
her arms above her head for 3 weeks.
