Blepharoplasty
The accumulation of excess skin, fat pockets and a tired appearance is a
frequent motivation to seek a correction of the eyelids. This procedure is
done under local anesthesia and sedation. Incisions are made in the natural
fold of the upper lid and near the eyelashes or on the inside of the lower
lid, and excess skin is removed, fatty tissue is rearranged and support
structures are reinforced as needed. The patient can return home the
same day, possibly with the eyes covered with absorbent gauze for 24 hrs.
Due to the direct effect that the position of the eyebrows has on the
eyelids, it is frequent that a simultaneous brow lift be considered.
