Arm Lift
When skin laxity gives the raised arms a droopy, “bat wing” appearance, this
procedure becomes necessary to reshape the arms for a more pleasing, toned
and proportioned look. The presence of excess fat is very frequent and
therefore, liposuction is a common part of the correction. In some
cases liposuction alone can be sufficient. The removal of the excess skin
is done under general or local anesthesia with sedation. Fusiform incisions are
made from the elbow to the underarm as needed, and through the skin and
fatty tissue. The excess is removed, resulting in a scar along the inside or
behind the arm depending on the patient’s preference. A supportive bandage
is applied and a special garment is indicated to be worn 3 to 4 weeks. The
patient can go home the same day.
